Namma Metro basically provides 3 kinds of ticketing option and you can choose or Buy any kind of contactless tickets based on your convenience.
The system includes –
- Tokens (for single journey)
- Contactless Smart Cards (for multiple journeys)
- QR code-based tickets.
Tokens: Ideal for One-Time Travel
- Purpose: Namma Metro tokens are designed for single journeys, making them a great choice for occasional or first-time travelers.
- Technology: Each token contains an electronic chip that holds journey data, which is read and updated at the entry gate and surrendered upon exit.
- How to obtain Token : Commuters need to obtain a token from the station counter by paying it via Cash or UPI. Scan the token at the entry gate. Once their journey is completed, the token is submitted at the exit gate while exiting, clearing it for future re-use.
- Pros:
- Simplicity: Tokens are hassle-free; simply purchase for each journey.
- Accessibility: No prior setup or registration is required.
- Cons:
- Not suited for frequent commuters due to the need to purchase tokens each time.
- Need to carefully maintain the token throughout the Journey, if the token got misplaced then there will be fine on it.
- Bangalore Metro token available only at the station counter.
Bangalore Metro token time limit will be for 20-30min around. Once taken the Journey should be started in 20min or will be fined. This rule was bought by BMRCL to prevent overcrowding at station. As per BMRCL regulations, stations are strictly for train usage, not for other activities.
